高吉聖悟先生（峯岸麻子さん通訳）のメッセージによる合同礼拝でした。ダニエル書５章からタイトルは「宮殿の塗り壁に書かれた文字」
「ダニエル書の基礎的なテーマは神が主権者であり、すべてをコントロールされる方であるということです。このテーマはベルシャツァル王が道徳や社会や宗教の規定を超えたひどい宴会を開いた箇所、ダニエル書５章にあらわにされています。このいかがわしい宴会の最中、壁に手の指が現れ、メッセージを書いたのです。ベルシャツァル王は自分が何か悪いことをしていると知り、恐れにかられ、誰かこの書かれていることの内容を教えてくれる人がいたら、報酬を出すと言いました。そこでダニエルが王の前に召しだされたのです。ダニエルは書かれたことを読み、その内容は、ベルシャツァル王の寿命がかぞえられていること、彼は神の意に沿わないので、裁かれるということだと告げました。
これは、イエス様と新しい関係を築く、あるいはイエス様との関係を新ためる機会です。そしてそのような新しい関係の中で、イエス様の義が私たちに有利に働き、神様の前に欠けたものとはされなくなるのです。
また、私たちに、私たちのそばに置かれている人々のために、イエス様を受け入れるように祈り、手をさしのべるべきだということを思い起こさせてくれる箇所です。
礼拝の後、前原先生からこれからGVICの牧会をになうことになった、高吉聖悟先生、金明子姉がみなさんに紹介されました。

The underlying theme of the Book of Daniel is that God is sovereign and is in total control. This theme is explored more in Daniel 5 where we see King Belshazzar throwing a party that crossed all sorts of moral, societal, and religious lines. In the midst of this disgraceful party, the fingers of a handwrite a message on the wall. King Belshazzar knows he is doing something wrong and fears what it says and so he offers great rewards to the one who can read and interpret it. No one can but Daniel is brought before him. Daniel reads the writing and says that King Belshazzar’s days are numbered, he is found to be in short of God’s standards, and therefore will be judged. Sure enough, that very night the Babylonian empire falls to the Medo-Persian empire. This passage is a reminder that we too have our days numbered and unless we accept Jesus, our lives will be found short of God’s standards and will be judged. It is an opportunity for us to start or renew our relationship with Jesus so that Jesus’ righteousness will be for our favor and we will not be found wanting. It is also a reminder that we should pray for and reach out to those that God has placed in our lives so that they too will accept Jesus.
