いつもの賛美チームの賛美のあと、今日はGVIC聖歌隊の”God Bless You”の賛美の動画が流れ、高吉聖悟先生のメッセージ（峯岸麻子姉通訳）「炎の中で」ダニエル書３章の前に今のロシアとウクライナ情勢についてひとりひとりが祈る時間を持ちました。
「私達は、長く生きていると、どこにも出口がないような健康問題、経済問題、人間関係などにでくわします。ダニエル書3章にはバビロン帝国で重要な責任をもっていた３人のユダヤ人の若者達、シャデラク、メシャク、アベデ・ネゴの３人がネブカネザル王のもと、さけられない状況におかれたことが書かれています。
ネブカネザル王は金の像を作ってすべての民にそれを拝むことを強要しました。ユダヤ人にとっては、ほかの神はあってはならないことでした。けれど、王に従わないということは、死を覚悟することでした。王の前に連れ出されたとき、彼らは過去の経験から、主なる神は必ず救ってくれる、またそうでなくても神の知恵を信じている、と確信をもって言いました。王は激怒し、彼らを炎の中に入れました。神が彼らを救って神の力が現れるか、そして神が彼らと共にいるかを試したのです。
『私には、火の中をなわを解かれて歩いている四人の者が見える。しかも彼らは何の害もうけていない。第四の者の姿は神々の子のようだ。』と王は言いました。
誰も試練を喜ぶ者はいませんが、この出来事は、私達が何者で、私達が価値をおいている物は何か、何を信じているかをおもい起させ、神に近づけてくれる機会です。どうぞ、あなたが試練に会ったとき、信仰が強められ、それを通して神の臨在を経験されますようにこの聖書の出来事をおもいだしたてください。」
今週のみ言葉：「私がこれらのことをあなたがたに話したのは、あなたがたが私にあって平安を持つためです。あなたがたは、世にあっては艱難があります。しかし、勇敢でありなさい。私はすでに世に勝ったのです。」ヨハネ１６章３３節
if we are blessed to live long enough, we will encounter situations that we will feel are impossible situations with no way out. They may take the form of health issues, financial ruin, broken relationships, and so on. Daniel 3 tells a time in history when 3 young Jewish men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, had great responsibilities in the Babylonian empire but were put in an impossible situation. King Nebuchadnezzar made a golden image and decreed that all should bow down. As Jews, they knew that they should have no other gods before them but the penalty of disobeying Nebuchadnezzar was death. When brought before the king, they told him that they knew God had the power to save as He had in their past, but even if they do not, they will trust the wisdom of God. This infuriated the king and had them thrown into the fire which revealed God’s power and plan to save them AND be with them. While none of us would ever choose trials, this incident reminds us that trials have a way of revealing who we are, what our values are, who we trust, gives us opportunities to share with others about God, and brings us closer to God. May God give you the strength and faith to go through your trials and may you experience God’s presence during those times.
